Directed by Charles Shyer
Written by Bill Naughton (original play & screenplay)
Written by Elaine Pope, Charles Shyer (screenplay)
Starring Jude Law
This movie is about the life of a player, and how he finally decides he wants to settle down with one love.
True, Jude Law is pretty darnit charming. He does a very good job of narrating into the camera. i don't imagine that to be a very easy task, as he seems so comfortable talking into the lens. But, too much of a good thing can be disaster. Enough is enough. the whole goddammit movie is narrated, like he was talking to us, like we were part of the movie?!! Maybe it works for theatre play where there's a third wall, and more interaction between the actors and audience members. But a play is very different from a film.
The movie ends with Jude Law saying, "You know what I mean?" (complete with English accent, and smile). gawd! it's the end of the movie, and you're asking me if i know what you mean? gzus! it's similiar to Ashley Simpson singing, "you make me wanna lala. you know what i mean?"
Certainly, this is no fault of Jude's.
